TSC Teams Successful in Presidents Cup, Southern Regionals, and ECNL Postseason

WICHITA, KS – The Tennessee Soccer Club 2007 Williamson Girls Showcase team advanced to the United States Youth Soccer Presidents Cup National Semifinals at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS this July.

“This team has been special since we started our season back in November,” said TSC 2007 Williamson Showcase coach Sarah Richardson. “When we started our State League games, I knew we could go far. I never imagined that we would be playing in Nationals though. Being State Cup Champions, Southern Regional Runner Up, and National Semifinalist, I am one proud coach for all the team has achieved.”

The defining moment came in the second game of the National Tournament. After tying game one, TSC was facing another tough battle and headed into second half stoppage time tied at 0-0. With just seconds before the final whistle, Chandler Gilchrist stepped up a struck a 35-yard free kick beyond the outstretched arms of the West Virginia goalkeeper to give TSC the victory.

“We became more than just teammates, we became best friends,” said Gilchrist. “That was the difference this year and that’s the reason we were able to make it so far.”

Meanwhile, 1265 miles to the east, the ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) Boys National Finals were also taking place at the West Creek Field Complex in Richmond, VA. The 2007 ECNL Boys competed against West Coast powerhouses Mustang SC in the national quarterfinal match.

Overall, many teams competed this summer at various regional championship events including USYS Southern Regionals, Presidents Cup Southern Regionals, ECNL National Playoffs, ECNL RL Central Region Playoffs, and SuperCopa all representing TSC.

“I’m extremely proud of how our teams developed and pushed themselves throughout the year,” said Director of Soccer Stephen Jordan. “The players trained hard and continued to listen, learn and trust themselves. I’m excited to see what they are able to achieve next season and beyond!”

TSC Cares Raises Nearly $24,000 to Help Special Olympics Tennessee Soccer Program

FRANKLIN, TN – Tennessee Soccer Club hosted its annual Soccer-A-Thon on Saturday at Robert Ring Arena in Franklin, TN to raise money for the Special Olympics Tennessee (SOTN). The event was a resounding success, raising over $24,000 to help the SOTN with its soccer program.

Participants filled the arena, with 26 athletes from Special Olympics as well as nearly 50 TSC players and coaches playing and helping run the hour-long clinic.

“It is always powerful to watch our coaches and players come together with the Special Olympics athletes for an hour where soccer isn’t the only focus,” said TSC Tournament Director & Events Coordinator Jimmy Drain. “Hearing the laughter, seeing all the smiles, and watching friendships take place on the field are just a small sample of how much fun takes place at the event.”

TSC began working with Special Olympics Tennessee in 2016 and has helped raise over $230,000 toward the cause.

The current Soccer-A-Thon fundraiser will keep accepting donations until March 1st with a mission to raise even more funds for the Special Olympics athletes and TSC. You can donate here.

“We love sharing our enjoyment for the game and look forward to hosting again next winter,” Drain added.

“We are so thankful for the support that TSC has given Special Olympics Tennessee over the years,” Adam Germek, President and CEO of Special Olympics Tennessee said. “This support has helped grow Special Olympics soccer and other programs throughout the state. The athletes look forward to the TSC Soccer-A-Thon every year and love the unified experience with TSC players, coaches, and staff. Thank you TSC for being champions for inclusion on and off the field!”
