2007 Girls Advance to National Semifinals, 2007 ECNL Boys to Quarterfinals

TSC Teams Successful in Presidents Cup, Southern Regionals, and ECNL Postseason

WICHITA, KS – The Tennessee Soccer Club 2007 Williamson Girls Showcase team advanced to the United States Youth Soccer Presidents Cup National Semifinals at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS this July.

“This team has been special since we started our season back in November,” said TSC 2007 Williamson Showcase coach Sarah Richardson. “When we started our State League games, I knew we could go far. I never imagined that we would be playing in Nationals though. Being State Cup Champions, Southern Regional Runner Up, and National Semifinalist, I am one proud coach for all the team has achieved.”

The defining moment came in the second game of the National Tournament. After tying game one, TSC was facing another tough battle and headed into second half stoppage time tied at 0-0. With just seconds before the final whistle, Chandler Gilchrist stepped up a struck a 35-yard free kick beyond the outstretched arms of the West Virginia goalkeeper to give TSC the victory.

“We became more than just teammates, we became best friends,” said Gilchrist. “That was the difference this year and that’s the reason we were able to make it so far.”

Meanwhile, 1265 miles to the east, the ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) Boys National Finals were also taking place at the West Creek Field Complex in Richmond, VA. The 2007 ECNL Boys competed against West Coast powerhouses Mustang SC in the national quarterfinal match.

Overall, many teams competed this summer at various regional championship events including USYS Southern Regionals, Presidents Cup Southern Regionals, ECNL National Playoffs, ECNL RL Central Region Playoffs, and SuperCopa all representing TSC.

“I’m extremely proud of how our teams developed and pushed themselves throughout the year,” said Director of Soccer Stephen Jordan. “The players trained hard and continued to listen, learn and trust themselves. I’m excited to see what they are able to achieve next season and beyond!”
