TSC Alum Avery Clark Signs with NWSL Kansas City Current
FRANKLIN, TN – Tennessee Soccer Club alumna Avery Clark signed a professional contract with the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the highest women’s professional league in the United States.
Clark came up through TSC as a member of the 2004 ECNL Girls team, before continuing her career at the University of Texas. At Texas she became a premier attacking threat and won titles in both the Big 12 and the SEC. She then began her professional career in Kansas City with the Current’s reserve side, KC Current II. She made her first-team debut as a second-half substitute, scoring an 82nd-minute header to win the match against Corinthians SC.
“Avery’s signing of a first-team contract with Kansas City is a tremendous accomplishment and testament to her perseverance, commitment to excellence, and relentless work ethic,” said TSC Executive Director Stuart Brown. “As a local player who developed within Tennessee Soccer Club, Avery’s journey demonstrates what is possible when a talented and driven athlete is surrounded by outstanding teammates, dedicated coaches, and a competitive environment that continually challenges her to grow.
Clark’s signing reflects what Tennessee Soccer Club works to provide for every player: high-level training, strong coaching, and a culture that values hard work, respect, and growth on and off the field. Her journey from TSC to the professional ranks offers a clear example for current players pursuing their own goals in the game.
“Having had the privilege of coaching Avery, I saw firsthand the exceptional skill, determination, and character she brough to the field every day. She now joins a growing group of TSC alumni who have reached the professional ranks, including most recently Maddie Padelski with the Portland Thorns,” Brown continued. “We are incredibly proud that TSC played a meaningful role in Avery’s development, and we are excited to see her take this well-earned next step in her career.”
