Club leadership calls new site an investment in the future of the game
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Soccer Club (TSC), the state’s largest youth soccer club, announced an initiative to meet the growing demands of youth sports in the region through the purchase of 87 acres in the College Grove area of Williamson County.
TSC said the land will be used to provide new fields for TSC players and to partner with youth sports organizations in the Nashville area to train and play games. The club will continue its field use partnerships with local governments across Middle Tennessee and the Upper Cumberland region.
As youth soccer continues to grow, TSC leadership said it is a priority of the club to invest in facilities and fields.
“Our club is prioritizing giving back to the community by contributing to the inventory of available fields and investing in the future of the game,” said TSC Executive Director Stuart Brown. “We have terrific partnerships with local governments that provide fields and spaces for kids to practice and play and those will continue. But our organization is stepping up to contribute to the mix of facilities serving our community.”
TSC is the state’s largest youth soccer club, with over 4,000 competitive and recreational players and teams with training locations in Williamson, Davidson, Rutherford, Sumner, and Putnam counties. The club competes nationally in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and regularly sees its players matriculate to college programs and youth national teams.
Brown said the move to own and build its own fields is ultimately an effort by the club to reduce the cost of youth soccer for families.
“Current fields in Middle Tennessee are at capacity, and teams are often left searching for privately owned spaces to practice and play,” Brown said. “These new fields will give us the opportunity to eliminate those expenses for many teams.”
TSC’s Board of Directors began the effort to identify and purchase land for its own fields several years ago, and Board Chair Angie Stiff said the land purchase was the first step in realizing a long-term goal of the club.
“It is vital to the children and families who love and enjoy this sport that we as a club continue to invest in their future,” Stiff said. “We take our stewardship of the game seriously, and this is an investment in the future of the sport in our area.”
TSC announced no timeline for new fields to come online and terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
