Below are the answers to the most asked questions. If you have additional questions or can’t find an answer, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.
Yes, we strongly recommend that players register and play within their school grade.
Yes, and we’ll make every effort to accommodate that request, but it is not always possible. Teammate or coach requests can be made on the application when you apply.
Yes, however once registration closes you will put you on a waiting list. If teams are in need of players, we will place those from waiting list and you will be notified.
Our teams are formed through a variety of ways. Individual sign ups, existing teams (ie schools or local organizations), and those teams within HYSA that have played together for others seasons.
Playing time: HYSA policy is that everyone will play at least 50% of the game. Player’s time is connected to practice and participation, if a player regularly misses practice, it will affect playtime.
Player rotation: All players should be encouraged to “rotate” positions including the goalkeeper. We want children to experience all positions and get a chance to develop all over the field.
Player Sharing: If one team has a full team and another has players missing, please share players and give your children as much playing time as possible.
Goal differential: Differentials of 3-4 goals, teams should start getting creative by limit touches, ten passes before shooting, shoot outside of the box only, moving players positions or playing a player or two down to challenge the winning team.
Score lines: No results are being recorded within HYSA Recreation Soccer, no league standings, or win/loss/tie records. Please don’t relate success of your team to how many games they win.
Consistent experience: As a club we want every child to have the same opportunities and experience throughout their years in the program. Therefore, we follow the club policies and the structure provided from the club professionals to ensure this. Balanced teams, exposure to different coaches is a goal to get to long term. Keeping our players having fun and growing the love of the game is paramount.
No. We do not keep the scores, league standings or team records.
A team jersey, insurance coverage also other expenses such as field maintenance, referees, staffing, equipment, etc. Trophies are up to the individual teams as the league does not provide trophies for every player.

Every precaution is taken to provide a safe environment for your child. We do not play if lightning is within 10 miles of the complex or until we’ve had no lightning strikes within 30 minutes in that 10 mile radius. Soccer activity will also be canceled if fields are too wet (standing water primarily). We will communicate cancellations via website, email, Facebook, Twitter. We will make every attempt to make up any games canceled due to weather. If a game has reached half time or beyond we will consider those games completed and will not be rescheduled.
