TSC wraps up second year of Futsal Academy Program
FRANKLIN, TN - Tennessee Soccer Club held its final session of the 2019-20 Futsal Academy program on Monday evening in Franklin. Over 100 TSC players participated in this year's program, which was approximately a 25% increase from the initial year of the program.
"Well done to the players and coaches for their hard work throughout this year's Futsal Academy," said TSC U12-U14 Girls Director and leader of TSC's Futsal Academy Stephen Jordan. "It was fantastic to watch all of the TSC players grow their confidence in the game and learn new skills and ideas to take into their spring seasons. The amount of smiles, sweat and excitement on the courts was easy to see and we look forward to using Futsal again next year to further our players' development."
Futsal has fast become the primary development tool for all major soccer associations across the world as it is recognized as the most beneficial player development method. Futsal places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness. It is a great skill developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking and pinpoint passing. The speed of play is such that you are forced to make quicker technical and tactical decisions. Futsal promotes proper technique and accelerated skill development in soccer.
Emily Callanen, an '07 TSC player who participated in the Futsal Academy, spoke very highly of her experience. "I thought it was a good balance between skill sessions and just play," said Emily. "I enjoyed being able to play with a different mix of players, both boys and girls. It was also good to have a variety of coaches for feedback purposes."
TSC hopes to expand its Futsal Academy program once again next year to continue to provide this experience for as many TSC players as possible. Click here to read more about the TSC Futsal Academy.
